Portrait of Ruben Perduyn, sold in New York (Christie's), 18 January 1983
The latter portrait is very similar to this portrait, and are probably produced more or less simultaneously by the same artist. The Rijksmuseum portrait is clearly a later copy of the portrait displayed here, and carries the same inscription and coats of arms on the reverse.

General remarks Although the text that once accompanied the panel mentions 1320 as the year of pilgrimage, it is more likely to have been 1520, given the stylistic features of the work. However, since nothing is known about the depicted person, this is not sure.
