The register of graves records this slab as situated in row 2 (grave 9) of the north choir (R2 G9) |
Short description: |
Rectangular 'headstone' (hooftstuck) featuring an inscription in Gothic textualis along three
sides around a central medallion with a shield |
Condition: |
The slab shows some wear in places and the right side appears to have been cut down although the marginal
inscription remains legible; the text along the right-hand edge does not fill the available space, which may suggest
that the slab was commissioned earlier and the date of death was added later. |
Material: |
Blue limestone |

45 x 75 cm |
Inscription: |
'Hier leit beg[ra]ve[n] Jacop Janz. van der Hoec[h] [sterf] anno 1532 den 2 april' |

Here lies buried Jacop Janz. van der Hoech died in the year 1532 on the 2nd April. |
Language: |
Dutch |
Heraldry: |
Shield with a seven-pointed star |
Alterations: |
Ownership must have reverted to the church at a later date, as indicated by the letter K and
the number 9 (i.e. grave no. 9). |
General remarks: |
P.C. Bloys van Treslong Prins misread the name as 'van der Hoeven', probably because the right
side of the slab appears to have been cut down. The grave was originally registered in the name of 'Die van
der Hoog'. |
